VIFFF unveils its 2025 lineup

Film details are available in French only. Please do not hesitate to contact us at info@vifff.ch if you have any questions.

The 11th edition of VIFFF bares it all!

90 screenings, talks and performances, 46 feature films, 18 short films and 22 countries represented: from October 22 to 26, the very best of international comedy comes to the Riviera!

This year, VIFFF tackles the theme Sex & Comedy: how do desire, taboos, and gender relations fuel laughter in cinema? A common thread running through many films in this edition, it resonates particularly with our guest of honor, Sophie Letourneur, whose works and masterclass reveal a comedy of the real—intimate, free, and delightfully offbeat.

VIFFF remains true to its unifying mission: after a successful debut in 2024, the Autumn Open Air returns to Place du Marché with free screenings under the stars. Mini VIFFF invites children to discover comedy through screenings and workshops, while Swiss and international shorts pack all the energy and inventiveness of the genre into just a few minutes. The Nocturnes promise wild and transgressive experiences, VIFFF Explore opens up to forms at the edges of the genre, while CHCHCH shines a light on the unique creativity of Swiss cinema. In International Competition, an eclectic selection proves that comedy can take on any subject.

Thus, VIFFF reaffirms its conviction that humor offers a unique way of looking at our world. In a time marked by censorship and violence, laughing together is anything but trivial. Comedy can be a way to resist, to reassert our shared humanity, and to forge connections where others would seek to break them. We hope that all peoples—in Palestine, Sudan, Ukraine, and elsewhere—may one day have the material and human conditions that make this sharing possible. Let us appreciate the privilege of living such moments.

Thank you, and enjoy the festival!

Mini VIFFF: Film Workshops for Children & Teens

Dubbing Workshop - ages 12 and up

What if you could dub the lines from a cult comedy, a video game show, or your favorite manga? That’s exactly what this workshop offers: through the fun of improvised dubbing!

The idea: participants watch clips from unknown films or series on the big screen, then take on the challenge of re-dubbing them live to create entirely new scenes. The day begins with an introduction to the basics of theatrical improvisation, which are then applied to the art of dubbing.

This playful, one-of-a-kind workshop is open to anyone aged 12 and up, and is perfect for those who love inventing surprising dialogue, experimenting with their voice, and above all, sharing moments of laughter and creativity!

Sophie Letourneur: Guest of Honor

Sophie Letourneur: Comedy Meets Reality

The VIFFF – Vevey International Funny Film Festival is delighted to welcome Sophie Letourneur as the Guest of Honor of its 11th edition!

Director, screenwriter, and actress, Sophie Letourneur has established herself since her beginnings as a singular voice in contemporary French comedy. She has a unique talent for capturing the trivial and awkward moments of everyday life and transforming them into humor that is both burlesque, tender, and offbeat. Her films, fueled by improvisation and self-mockery, turn the ordinary into moments of joyful comedy, revealing both its absurdity and its poetry. Additionally, her explorations of relationships and desire, centered on female characters far from stereotypes, also resonate naturally with this year’s festival focus: “Sex & Comedy.”

By placing laughter at the heart of her work, Sophie Letourneur has invented a unique, free-spirited, and daring way of filming reality.

On Friday 24 and Saturday 25 October, a selection of her films will be screened as part of the VIFFF. She will also give a masterclass, offering an opportunity to look back on her career and her distinctive approach to comedic cinema.

11th Edition in the Heart of Vevey

VIFFF 2025: 11th Edition in the Heart of Vevey

From October 22 to 26, 2025, the 11th edition of the VIFFF – Vevey International Funny Film Festival will take place. Rooted in the city center, the festival will once again stay true to its convivial and inclusive spirit, inviting audiences to discover fresh gems from the world of international comedy cinema.

Free Open-Air Screenings Under the Stars
Launched with great success in 2024 for the festival’s 10th anniversary, the free Open-Air screenings are back! Each evening, two films will be shown outdoors, facing the lake in front of the Salle del Castillo. To ensure a warm and cozy atmosphere, blankets and hot soup will be available.

New This Year: VIFFF at the Salle del Castillo
For the first time, the festival will move into the Salle del Castillo, hosting late-night parties as well as film workshops designed for young audiences.

A Festive Market Square
The Place du Marché will remain the festival’s lively hub. Under the Grenette, a bar and food trucks will welcome festival-goers, while live concerts set the rhythm of the evenings. As in previous years, the ticket office and information desk will be based at Théâtre Le Reflet. Partner venues Cinérive (Rex 1-2-3 and Astor cinema) are just a short walk away, making the entire event a pedestrian-friendly experience.

Inclusive Ticketing Policy
Committed to accessibility for everyone, the VIFFF has for the past three years offered a flexible and supportive pricing system. For paid screenings, audiences can freely choose between three price levels: reduced (CHF 10), standard (CHF 15), or supporter (CHF 18). Day passes are available for CHF 30, and the full Festival Pass (five days) for CHF 70, with a “supporter” option at CHF 90. A “suspended ticket” scheme also allows attendees to gift or receive an entry. Ticket sales open in early October, alongside the announcement of the full program.

Focus “Sex & Comedy”: First Films Announced!

Sex & Comedy

For its 11th edition (October 22–26), the VIFFF presents a thematic focus that is as universal as it is transgressive: Sex & Comedy. Through a selection of films that are by turns funny, tender, explicit, or absurd, the festival will explore how sex, desire, and gender relations have shaped the history of laughter in cinema.

The VIFFF is pleased to reveal the first titles in this special selection, as well as a lecture by Solène Humair on French comic pornography of the 1970s. Further comedies will be added to the program, which will be announced in full in early October.

As a preview of this thematic focus, the festival is delighted to join forces with the Swiss Cinematheque for a screening of the cult classic There’s Something About Mary, on Friday, October 10 at 8:30 p.m. at the Capitole cinema.

Barbarella

Roger Vadim, France/Italy, 1968

A sensual galactic heroine, Barbarella travels through space to save humanity — and awaken a few forgotten pleasures — in a pop and psychedelic adventure. A kitsch, exuberant cult classic starring the radiant Jane Fonda.

Viva Erotica

(Sik ching nam lui)

Derek Yee & Lo Chi-Leung, Hong Kong, 1996

A penniless filmmaker is forced to direct an erotic film… and finds unexpected meaning in the process. Between satire and sensuality, a gem of Hong Kong cinema.

But I’m a Cheerleader

Jamie Babbit, USA, 1999

Sent to a “sexual reorientation” camp, a cheerleader ends up discovering who she truly is. Offbeat humor, candy-colored visuals, and queer energy combine in a comedy as tender as it is sharp.

American Pie

Paul Weitz & Chris Weitz, USA, 1999

Four somewhat lost teenagers make a pact: to lose their virginity before the end of high school. Between unforgettable mishaps and awkward discoveries, a generational comedy that became a cult classic.

Slut in a Good Way

(Charlotte a du fun)

Sophie Lorain, Canada, 2021

Charlotte is growing up, feeling a little down, and testing her limits by multiplying sexual encounters. A witty, liberating comedy about desire and the fierce drive to live at 17.

Nanaravifff – So Bad It’s Good

The worst films ever made come to fix your plumbing! Selected excerpts from the legendary Nanaratomik nights.

Adults only (18+)

Lecture: Porn and Comedy

What made people laugh in 1970s French comic pornography?

Solène Humair, who is preparing a thesis on French comic pornography of the 1970s, will introduce audiences to this unique genre in cinema history. Using film excerpts, she will highlight the questions surrounding sexual pleasure that were present in French society at the time.
