The VIFFF champions independent, diverse and daring comedy, driven by the conviction that humour offers a unique perspective on the world and brings audiences together. Through its programme, the festival explores all forms of comedy cinema, from classics to the most contemporary works, with a focus on films that surprise, challenge perceptions and breathe new life into the genre.
This artistic vision is structured around two complementary strands. On the one hand, thematic focuses and retrospectives invite audiences to rediscover the history of comedy cinema, its key figures and its sometimes little-known movements. On the other hand, the international short and feature-length film competitions, as well as the parallel sections, showcase the new voices of contemporary comedy, both in Switzerland and internationally.
