“My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die.”

Confined to bed, a boy reluctantly agrees to let his grandfather tell him a story. In the kingdom of Florin, Buttercup is to marry Prince Humperdinck, even though she is still in love with Westley, her childhood sweetheart whom she believes to be dead. Duels, pirates, giants and fantastical creatures punctuate this tender, tongue-in-cheek fairy tale, which has become a family classic packed with hilarious lines.

Tribute to Rob Reiner

Rob Reiner died tragically last December, leaving behind a body of work that ranks amongst the most memorable in American comedy. He was one of the few filmmakers who knew how to make us laugh and move us across such a wide range of genres.

It seemed only natural for the VIFFF to pay tribute to his genius, which had such a profound impact on our love of cinema. To celebrate his talent, we have selected three of his most iconic comedies.
